Stanley H. Hartt, OC, QC

Chairman, Macquarie Capital Markets and Macquarie Private Wealth

Stanley Hartt is an Officer of the Order of Canada and one of Canada’s preeminent contributors in both the private and public sectors at high levels. Since joining Macquarie late in 2008, he has overseen and helped to drive our firm’s forward momentum in Canada.

Stanley was called to the Quebec Bar in 1965 and spent 20 years in legal practice, headed a major corporation, held leadership positions in government, advised and raised capital for leading businesses, and served a Director on numerous boards of both corporate and not-for-profit organizations.

He worked for the law firm Stikeman Elliott for twenty years and was Partner for sixteen. From 1985 to 1988, he was Deputy Minister of the Department of Finance under the Honourable Michael Wilson. From 1989 to 1990, he was Chief of Staff in the Office of The Right Honourable Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. From 1990 to 1996, he was Chairman, President and CEO of Campeau Corporation, a real estate and retailing enterprise. In 1996, he became Chairman of the investment banking firm Salomon Brothers Canada Inc., later renamed Citigroup Global Markets Canada Inc., a post he held for twelve years before joining Macquarie Capital.

As Chairman of Macquarie Capital Markets Canada Ltd., Stanley works closely with Macquarie’s senior management to develop new business and provide high-level strategic advice to Macquarie’s key clients. He fosters new partnerships and strengthens existing ones and has helped Macquarie to step up to a new phase of growth here in Canada and in the region more broadly.

Earl Evans

Macquarie Group Limited Executive Director, Chief Executive Officer and Head of Macquarie Private Wealth

Earl is a senior member of the Macquarie Group, an Executive Director of Macquarie and the CEO of Macquarie Private Wealth (MPW) Canada. He is also head of the wealth business in Canada and has more than a 20-year history in the investment industry.

Earl worked closely with our clients, Investment Advisors and management team alike to successfully transform Blackmont Capital into Macquarie Private Wealth and, in just one year, the firm has experienced a renaissance under his leadership. For the first time ever, we have proudly achieved the highest ratings of any investment firm in Canada in the categories of stability, strategic focus, corporate culture, ethics, and marketing in the Investment Executive Brokerage Report Card 2011.

This is not surprising given that, as National Head of Broking, Australia, Earl led Macquarie's broking business to be number one in the country and among the most respected investment houses in the marketplace through a platform of client focus, integrity and trust.

Earl is a highly respected member of the Macquarie Group, sits on many committees including the Vice Chair of the Macquarie Foundation for North America, and is a Board Member of MPW Canada and the larger Banking and Financial Services Group (BFS) Canada.

A strong believer in giving back to the community, Earl is heavily involved in charity work with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the Red Cross and The Smith Family Foundation, a national, independent social enterprise working to unlock opportunities for disadvantaged people.
