Big wins for Macquarie-sponsored rugby teams

Men’s Sevens defeat Australia; Women’s Sevens are still world’s best

In the IRB World Series Seven’s event in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 12, 2012, the Canadian men's team defeated Australia 19 to 17 to win the Bowl competition and the women continued their two-year undefeated streak to remain the top women’s team in the world.

Canadian Men’s Sevens beat Australia to win the Bowl Competition in Vegas

Canada's Macquarie-sponsored Men's Sevens

The National Men’s Sevens team defeated Australia 19 to 17 in the Bowl Final to bring home the trophy. Canada had been down 10 to 0 but bounced back. A try by Sean Duke sealed the win in the final seconds. Head coach Geraint John was delighted with the performance and also thanked the many Canadian fans that travelled to Vegas to cheer the team on.

Canadian Women defend their status as world’s best

Canada's Macquarie-sponsored Women's Sevens

Canada's women won the Grand Final of the USA Sevens 14 to 5 in Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 12, 2012 for the second year in a row to defend their ranking as the best women's sevens rugby team on the planet. Sunday's win was their fifth straight major international tournament win.

Both the National Men’s and Women's Sevens team are proudly sponsored by Macquarie.
