Investment Advisor

Kim GenereuxKim has closely analyzed the equity markets and numerous publicly traded companies since 1994, and formally became an Investment Advisor in 2000. Kim began his career with Edward Jones, opening and managing their office in Cadboro Bay from 2000 until 2003. He then progressed to the level of Senior Investment Advisor with Canaccord Capital prior to joining the predecessor firm to Macquarie Private Wealth, where he formed a team with Heather Aked. Kim’s role focuses in particular on security selection and other investment aspects of client portfolios. Kim completed his Professional Financial Planning (PFP) course in 2002 with honours, and is committed to ongoing continuing education to remain fully informed as a financial service professional. He is currently working towards his Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation.

Before joining the investment industry, Kim had a lengthy career as a diagnostic and basic research transmission electron microscopist. He worked at Dalhousie University, the University of Toronto, and U.B.C. He completed his research career in 1999 as Supervisor of Diagnostic EM, Department of Pathology, King Fahad Hospital, Saudi Arabia. Kim attended first and second year courses in sciences at the University of Victoria prior to achieving the Dean’s honour list with distinction at Seneca College with a three-year diploma in Electron Microscopy.

Kim’s outside interests include spending time with his partner, Patty, family and friends. He particularly enjoys honing his skills as an ultra long-distance cyclist — his most recent accomplishment was a one-day solo ride of 294 kilometers from Jasper to Banff. Kim also has won numerous national and international awards as an accomplished underwater photographer, a passion he has enjoyed in oceans around the world for 35 years.

Kim is a proud co-founder of the 2010 inaugural  "Macquarie Rink Of Dreams" which raised over $102,000 for the "Help Fill A Dream" Foundation where he serves as a Director.
