My entire career has centred around my passion for the markets. At the age of 18, I began my career in the financial industry as a desk trader with Pitflield, McKay Ross. In 1982, I joined a predecessor firm to Macquarie Private Wealth. My aptitude for the dynamic, fast-paced business of trading equities allowed me to become the youngest Senior Trader to work on the floor of the Vancouver Stock Exchange.
In 1989, I was able to combine my interest in the markets with my desire to help others: I moved into the retail, client-centred side of the industry to become an Investment Advisor and have remained there ever since, specializing in transactional sales and venture capital. For a period, I worked alongside my father, who was a Branch Manager and Investment Advisor at our predecessor, and I also worked as the Sales Manager for the firm's Vancouver branch from 2004 through 2008.
Deeply committed to my community, I am a Past Director of Big Brothers and have been a Big Brother myself since 1991. My charitable interests also extend to the welfare of the future generation: I have served as a member on the Finance Committee of B.C. Children’s Hospital and have been a minor league hockey/baseball coach for seven years.
I am married with two sons and enjoy golfing, fishing, music, food and wine.
“Ross has a unique sense of timing with the markets that I’ve never seen in any other broker. He has remarkable intuition about what they are doing.”
