Purchasing equities, also known as stocks or shares, allows you to own segments of public companies. Equities have been proven, over a documented history of more than a century, to provide investors with the best long-term returns when compared with bonds or savings accounts.
Depending on many factors, the performance of individual equities can result in short-term loss. To offset this risk, we invest in a variety of equities across different sectors and countries, through a process called diversification. Some common equities are growth oriented, and reinvest their profits to grow the business. They may give you the right to vote on company decisions. Others grow more slowly, and distribute some of their income to their shareholders in the form of dividends. Preferred shares generally provide prescribed (but not guaranteed) dividends, and do not give you voting rights.
Macquarie Private Wealth Investment Advisors are highly skilled at choosing which sectors show the most promise at any given time and which stocks may provide the best growth and/or income to suit your needs in context of your unique risk tolerance. Macquarie Private Wealth offers our clients access to global equity markets. Your Advisor will also recommend that you invest in other types of investments as well as stocks; this is called asset allocation and it is essential to providing true diversification of your portfolio.
Working with Macquarie Private Wealth’s industry-leading, award-winning research specialists, your Advisor will identify equities that are most likely to perform best over the long term. Alternatively, if you have a minimum of $100,000 to invest, your Advisor can work with you through the Macquarie Integrated Managed Account (IMA) platform, whereby the world’s finest professional money managers make the investment decisions to build your personal wealth.
