On Thursday, September 23, 2010, together with Christina Burgess, proprietor of one of my favourite shops, Augustina Boutique, (on Old York Lane off Cumberland Street), the Bag Lady of Bay Street™ hosted a Temple St. Clair Trunk Show and Sale in support of Plan Canada’s Because I am a Girl.
The event took place within the exclusive Augustina Boutique itself. Guests chatted with the internationally acclaimed jewellery designer Temple St. Clair, enjoyed cocktails and canapés and marvelled at Temple’s exquisite works of art.
I am positively glowing to report that we raised $6,540. Our purchases raised $3,270.00 and the Macquarie Group Foundation matched this amount 100 per cent to bring our total gift to $6,540.00. All the funds went towards building a girls’ school residence in Rwanda through Plan Canada.
Not bad for an evening's “work” — a testament to the power of women.
Many thanks to Temple St. Clair for attending, sharing her story and showcasing her stunning, unique jewellery; to Christina Burgess, owner of Augustina Boutique Toronto, for sharing her elegant space and her gracious staff; to Rosemary McCarney, Paula Roberts and Catherine Wallace of Plan Canada for representing the girls of the developing world; and to everyone who attended this important evening.
I sincerely hope my guests all had as much fun as I did.
