Our approach

Meeting with you

First meeting

Our team wants to work with our clients for the long term. We believe that it is important for us and prospective clients to get to know each other well before we make a commitment to work together. Our first meeting is intended to be informal with no obligations on either side. We take notes as we listen to you and encourage you to do the same.

We like our first meeting to be an opportunity to ask you lots of questions. We want to know about your current situation: marital status, number of children, home ownership, existing investments, investment experience, etc. It is important that you ask questions as well. There are no “bad’ questions because we want you to know as much as possible about who we are and what we can do to help you achieve your financial objectives.

At the end of the first meeting we will thank you for taking the time to meet with us and commit to calling you within a week. This gives everyone involved a chance to review our discussion and decide if we want to proceed with working together.

Second meeting

After deciding to work together, we arrange a second meeting. At that time, we will address any additional questions you may have, and review the investment process for your portfolio.

Importantly, this is when we take care of all the required paperwork to open your accounts and set up the transfer of existing assets. Banking is put into place so that we are able send you money electronically. We also set you up to view your accounts online using Envoy, Macquarie’s own online account viewing platform. By using Envoy, you can also access Macquarie research.

Accessability

We think that accessibility is an important part of good client service. We are in the office early in the morning, usually through lunch, until the late afternoon. We answer our own telephones, and communicate with you directly.

When you need to know something about personal finance, we want to be the first people that you call. If we don’t know the answer, we will find it out for you and get back to you promptly. If your accountant needs information, have them contact us directly. We will ensure that they get the right answer and that your best interest is looked after.

Envoy is available 24/7, so that you can access your portfolio wherever and whenever you wish.

Monitor and review

We take responsibility to monitor and review your portfolio on a regular basis. It usually leads to keeping the status quo, but we will contact you whenever we feel that a change is required or to update you on important news affecting your portfolio or a specific holding.

We do like to stress to clients that we believe strongly in a two-way relationship. It is important for you to get in touch with us if you have questions or concerns. We find that the clients who are most involved in this relationship are also the most satisfied with our services over time.

Keeping you informed

Macquarie is a global company and we make our world-wide, award-winning equity research available to our clients. This global perspective is very useful to investors because North American companies are increasingly doing international business; the location of their headquarters is becoming less and less important.

Another way we keep our clients informed is through our Launch Pad daily email offering. This is sent to you every workday morning and has useful insights and purposeful analysis not found in the daily newspapers. It gives investors a quick summary of the important issues and opportunities of the day.
