With complementary skill sets and the backing of the global resources and experience of Macquarie, our team is well positioned to grow and preserve your wealth.
Investing is more than a career for me — it is a passion. My experience is far-reaching: since 1994 I have advised and managed individuals’ and institutions’ portfolios and structured financing for junior oil and gas companies, and I am past chair and member at large of the University of Calgary Investment Committee.
My start in investing came when my father’s broker at Charlton Securities agreed to mentor me. Next, I worked with First Marathon and Research Capital as an Investment Advisor before being recruited to Yorkton Securities, the original predecessor firm to Macquarie Private Wealth, where I met my future wife, Kim. I moved to Wolverton Securities and worked for six and a half years advising individual and institutional investors mainly on energy deals and spent 3 years as the National Sales Manager developing the private client group there. I am extremely excited to be back now that the firm has evolved into a global force with rich research resources and strong capitalization.
I hold my BA in Political Science from the University of Calgary, am a past member of the University’s Board of Governors (2004–2010) and still sit on the Alumni Association Board, and advise the Entrepreneurship Program at Mount Royal University’s Bissett School of Business. I have also been active in the Rotary Club of Calgary Olympic since 1994; was their President for 2005/2006 and will be President again in 2012/2013.
I am married to Kim MacEachern, Assistant Branch Manager of MPW’s Calgary office, and we welcomed our first child in July of 2011.
Working in various roles in the beverage, telecommunications and finance industries since 1995 has provided me valuable and practical experience not usually found in the financial services industry.
Complementing this experience is my academic background. I hold my BA in Economics from the University of Calgary and my MA in Economics from the University of Alberta. Since 2009, I have been a member of the Market Technicians Association (MTA), a professional organization dedicated to understanding price movements of securities, and I am currently working towards obtaining my Certified Market Technician (CMT) designation through the MTA.
I sit on the Board of Directors and Fundraising Committee of the Lethbridge Chapter of the MS Society of Canada and am proud to play an important role in planning the chapter’s future. In my personal time, my wife and I enjoy travelling and learning languages.
I joined the predecessor firm to Macquarie Private Wealth in 2001, providing a wide range of client support services with the highest degree of professionalism, integrity and caring. Communications and Administration are a top priority.
I began my career in the financial services industry in 1989 at Canada Trust and moved to Midland Walwyn Capital to pursue my interest in the stock market. I also worked for Merrill Lynch Canada and CIBC Wood Gundy as an Administrative Assistant.. In addition to my Investment Services Associate Role, I am also qualified as an Investment Advisor advising a select group of clients.
I live on a farm near Vulcan, Alberta with my husband where I pursues my passion for horses, cows and country living.
